There is no doubt that education holds the key to the alleviation of human poverty. ARDA at the moment focuses on the provision of primary education in rural areas in East Africa. However, ARDA also seeks in the near future to offer higher education and vocational training. ARDA plans to do “One person at a time programme” and Teacher Training Programmes. One person at a time programme aims to sponsor top achieving poor students with university and maintenance fees. Teacher training programmes will create jobs but more importantly will produce skilled teachers who will educate people. The people who will benefit from these educational projects include orphans, disadvantaged children, reformed militias and adults.
